As the sun sets over the African bush-veld, the crimson shades change to gold and the last rays of twilight accentuate the outlines of the exquisitely Exclusive Tents hidden between the bush willow and mopani trees.....
Exclusive Tents capture an aesthetic elegance, allowing them to naturally blend into the environment. With luxuries such as enclosed bathrooms, covered verandahs, cavernous space and the smell of genuine canvas, our tents are seductive, very exclusive, gracious, unusual, & ecologically sound. Using only the best fabrics and accessories, Exclusive Tents offer a unique form of outdoor living for those wishing to get closer to nature and savour her nuances. Designed to withstand rude weather, and able to stand exposed to the elements for decades, Exclusive Tents provide lodge accommodation distinct from any other.
The tents are manufactured to overcome the climatic threat of dry desert and semi desert as well as that of humid coastal and high rainfall wetland conditions. The tents consist of various replaceable components, that can be purchased individually to replace a weathered part of any tent, making it extremely rare that a complete tent ever needs replacement. For example, a unique feature is our removable door zips that can be quickly and easily repaired in the field.
In our ongoing work to meet and exceed tolerance levels prescribed by the military we set new standards in the quality of canvas tent manufacturing. Our laboratory continues to research new and improved methods for curing, treating, laminating and strengthening canvas, enabling us to improve existing products and introduce new products with regularity, always adding value.
Tent Design
Our range of tents are carefully designed to provide beautiful, practical solutions for a wide range of uses. Most can have the door and window locations arranged to suit the clients wishes, and further reasonable customisation is not usually a problem. Assistance in developing personalised 'Tent Pavilions' is also a service that we offer. We can show our customers how to combine multiple tents to form larger units, and thus the diversity that our tent designs allow.
Bespoke tent design
When you require a fully bespoke tent designed to your individual wishes & desires we offer the services of our "Tent Architect", Paul Munnik, who can be commissioned for custom tent designs. Paul is closely involved with Exclusive Tents, and we will work hand-in-hand on your design.
Project Design
For project design and architectural services we recommend Patrice Belle, RIBA Ordre des Architectes, an international architect living in France and registered both in France & the UK with a portfolio of projects world wide. Patrice, together with John Evans, is also Exclusive Tents interlocutor for Europe. John, living in the UK, is an ideal contact for those searching for a camp or leisure site in France.

Exclusive Tents are fabricated using only high quality materials. The frames are designed for strength, stability, and durability. The fabrics are heavy gauge canvases chosen for quality, resistance & performance. An important consideration in choosing a tent is the canvas 'weight': Exclusive Tents use a canvas whose 'weight' or thickness means that its occupants are not silhouetted by internal lighting at night for all to see. The frames are tensioned & triangulated using chains rather than ropes. A deep space is incorporated between the two roof layers, and below these to the tent body to ensure good sun shading combined with free flow ventilation. The tent body is hung over metal ridge & eaves rails suspended clear of the roof frame by metal chains (typically, cheaper tents are simply tied directly to the metal frame). The bottom edge of the tent body canvas has a PVC splash skirt and is firmly fixed to tent platform/base with a square section metal tube threaded through the edge skirt.
Longevity
Our tents can last a lifetime if taken care of properly. This includes keeping proper tension and keeping the tent generally clean. The canvas used is woven, and is treated to stringent specifications. The material is highly resistant to ultra-violet rays and is both rot resistant and waterproof, which means that these tents can be used in most climatic conditions, from hot, dry desert environments, high precipitation rain-forests, alongside lakes to the seaside. The tents have been used in Botswana's Okavango Delta, where some of these camps have now been in operation for over 20 years. It is only in the case of a disaster that one ever will have the need to replace an entire tent; the tents are all made of components that are all individually replaceable as they weather or wear. The shade fly is the component that is the most exposed to the elements and is usually the first component to weather. The customer can also purchase our water based canvas maintenance compound that restores UV protection, anti-rot, waterproofing and original colour to the canvas, which can be applied every 1 to 2 years to the outer canvas, depending on the climate. The Exclusive Tent range has been produced and developed over the last 35 years. We have supplied these unique tents to safari operators, resorts & individuals throughout the world. Our Exclusive Tents can even be seen in the movies 'The Lost World', 'George of the Jungle' and 'Mighty Joe Young'.
